Privacy Policy

décode is a skincare app, built by Innolab so your data stays yours. The app decodes product ingredient labels and helps you track how your skin responds over time. It is private by design: your profile, scans, and skin journal are processed and stored on your device, and we hold no server-side copy of them.

In short

• No account and no login.
• Your skin profile and journal stay on your device.
• The camera is used only to read ingredient labels; photos aren’t uploaded.
• We don’t sell your data, show tracking ads, or use third-party tracking SDKs.

What we collect

To work, décode processes the following on your device:

• Skin profile — the skin details and “avoid” preferences you enter, used to check ingredients against your skin.
• Skin journal — the entries you record about how your skin feels (for example better, same, or worse, and factors like dryness or redness), stored to show your trends.
• Camera — used only while you are scanning an ingredient label, so the app can read the text. The image is processed on the device to identify ingredients; it is not uploaded to us.

The app also includes a built-in ingredient reference database that ships with the app; looking something up in it does not send your data anywhere.

Where your data lives

Your profile and journal are stored on your device. If you turn on the optional iCloud backup, that data syncs to your own private iCloud (via Apple’s CloudKit), secured by your Apple ID — we cannot access or read it. We do not run any server that stores your skin data.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information; we don’t show personalized or tracking-based advertising; we don’t embed third-party analytics or attribution SDKs; and we don’t request App Tracking Transparency permission because we don’t track you across apps.

Your control

You can edit or delete your entries in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes the on-device data; to remove an iCloud backup, manage it in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.

Children

décode is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the effective date above.
